Community guidelines
Welcome to the Video Planner community. Video Planner is open to creators of every size and niche — gaming, lifestyle, education, comedy, music, whatever you make. You're free to plan, script and run your channel your way. In return, we ask that everything you do here is safe for a general audience and follows the rules of the platforms you publish on.
These Community Guidelines apply everywhere Video Planner runs: the website and app, your workspaces and team chat, welcome pages, internal messages, the brand portal and our Discord server. They work alongside our Terms of use and Privacy policy. By using Video Planner you agree to follow them.
1. The short version
- No 18+ content. Video Planner must not be used for adult or sexual content of any kind.
- Follow YouTube's and Twitch's rules. If it would break YouTube's or Twitch's Community Guidelines, it doesn't belong on Video Planner either.
- Respect copyright. Only upload and plan with material you own or have permission to use.
- Be decent. No harassment, hate, spam or scams — towards creators, brands or our team.
- Three strikes. Breaking these rules gets you a warning (a strike). Strike two comes with a restriction; strike three means your account is suspended.
- We moderate. Your data is encrypted, but our staff can monitor, manage and moderate content on the platform. Every time they access an account, it's logged.
2. Content you plan and upload
Your scripts, ideas, thumbnails, stream plans, welcome pages, uploads and messages must follow the community guidelines of the platforms you create for:
If content would be removed, or earn a strike, on YouTube or Twitch, don't plan it, store it or promote it here. Where YouTube and Twitch differ, the stricter rule applies on Video Planner.
No 18+ or adult content
Video Planner is a professional workspace used by creators aged 13 and over. It must not be used for adult content — even where YouTube or Twitch would allow it with an age restriction, a mature-content label or a content classification. That means no:
- nudity, pornography, sexually explicit or sexually suggestive material;
- links to, or promotion of, adult sites, adult services, OnlyFans-style pages or similar;
- planning, scripting or scheduling content that is made for an 18+ audience;
- sponsor deals, brand offers or affiliate promotion for adult products or services.
Anything that sexualises minors is never allowed, and we will report it to the relevant authorities.
Other content that isn't allowed
- Hate speech and harassment: bullying, discrimination, targeted harassment, threats or hate speech.
- Self-harm and dangerous behaviour: content that encourages, promotes or gives instructions for self-harm, eating disorders or dangerous challenges.
- Violent or graphic content: gore or graphic violence meant to shock or disgust.
- Illegal activity: content that promotes or helps with illegal goods, services or activities, including gambling promotion that breaks the platform's rules or the law.
- Privacy: don't share anyone's personal information, private contact details or private channel data (doxxing) without their clear permission.
- Impersonation: don't pretend to be another creator, brand or member of our team.
3. Copyright & intellectual property
We respect the work of other creators and rights holders, and expect you to do the same. The same copyright rules that apply on YouTube and Twitch apply here:
What this means on Video Planner:
- Only upload what you own or have the right to use. That covers thumbnails, images, scripts, welcome page photos, proof screenshots and creator pack files.
- Music: use the Music library's licence fields honestly. Don't mark a track as cleared for YouTube or Twitch unless it really is, and keep the credit text the licence asks for.
- No re-uploads or piracy: don't use Video Planner to plan re-uploads of other people's videos, streams of copyrighted films, TV or sport, or to share links to pirated content.
- Brand assets: logos, overlays and files from a sponsor's creator pack are for that sponsor's deal only. Don't reuse them elsewhere, and don't use any brand's logo or name to suggest a partnership you don't have.
- Fair use / fair dealing is your responsibility. If you rely on it, make sure your use really qualifies.
Reporting copyright problems
If you think something on Video Planner uses your work without permission (for example a public welcome page, or a file shared in a creator pack), message our team with:
- a link to, or description of, the content;
- what work it uses and proof that it's yours (or that you act for the owner);
- your contact details.
If the report is valid, we'll remove the content, tell the person who uploaded it, and give them a copyright strike. If you think your content was removed by mistake, reply to us with the reason, and we'll review it.
Repeat infringers: copyright strikes count towards the three-strike limit like any other warning. Serious or repeated copyright abuse can also lead us to switch off your uploads or suspend your account straight away.
4. Sponsors, brands & affiliates
- Disclose sponsored content. Follow YouTube's paid-promotion rules, Twitch's branded content rules and advertising law (in the UK, label sponsored posts clearly, e.g. #ad).
- Honour your agreements. Creators: deliver what you agreed, on time, and send honest proof. Brands: pay what you agreed, on time, and record payments truthfully.
- No offers that break these guidelines. Brands can't offer sponsorships for 18+ products, gambling that breaks the platform's rules or the law, or anything YouTube or Twitch wouldn't allow.
- Affiliate integrity. Share your affiliate link honestly. No spam, fake accounts, self-referrals or misleading claims.
- Keep it on Video Planner. Use internal messages for deal conversations. Don't use the platform to collect creators' personal details for outside outreach.
5. Platform usage
- Account security: your account is for you (and your invited team). Don't sell, trade or share your login.
- Spam & misuse: no spam, malware, phishing links, or fake views, followers or engagement.
- Support inbox: contact the team once per issue and keep it in one conversation. Flooding the support inbox can lead to your Contacting the team access being switched off.
6. Official Discord server rules
Our Discord is for strategy, tips and support.
- Age requirement: you must be 16 or older to join the Discord server.
- No spam: SEO spammers, unsolicited editors and anyone offering unsolicited services will be banned straight away.
- Direct messages: don't DM members without their permission. Unsolicited DMs offering services or links count as spam.
- Self-promotion: don't post links to your latest videos or streams in general channels. Use
#rate-my-content, and start a thread for discussion. - No affiliate links: posting affiliate or sponsor links anywhere on the server isn't allowed.
- Official support: for help with your account on Discord, you'll be asked for a Support Code from My account, so we know it's really you.
- Brand deals: brands wanting to work with our creators must contact the Video Planner team. Unapproved outreach, or scraping the server for leads, isn't allowed.
7. Monitoring & moderation
Your content is stored encrypted, so it can't be read by anyone outside Video Planner, and other users only see what you choose to share (for example with your team or on your welcome page).
However, to keep the platform safe, Video Planner staff have the right to monitor, manage and moderate content on the platform. That includes viewing an account (read-only) to check a report or help with a problem, hiding or removing content that breaks these guidelines, and applying warnings, restrictions or suspensions.
Every access is logged. Each time a member of staff views your account, it's recorded in the account's audit log, and you can see it in Recent account activity in My account.
8. Warnings & the three-strike system
When someone breaks these guidelines, staff can choose to give a warning (strike), apply a restriction, or both, depending on what happened.
- Every warning is a strike. You'll get an email, a notice on every page until you press I understand, and you can see all your warnings in My account.
- Strike 1 — warning. A chance to put things right.
- Strike 2 — warning and restriction. Part of your account is switched off (see the restrictions below), depending on what the strike was for.
- Strike 3 — full suspension. Your account is suspended automatically. You'll be signed out and won't be able to sign in until our team reviews it.
- A strike lasts 90 days. After that it expires and no longer counts, but it stays visible in your account. Restrictions stay until our team lifts them.
- Mistakes get corrected. If a warning was given in error, our team will withdraw it. It stops counting and disappears from your account.
Some things skip the strikes. For serious violations — sexual content involving minors, threats of violence, fraud, scams, ban evasion or illegal activity — we may suspend your account straight away, without warnings. Where the law requires it, we'll report it to the relevant authorities.
9. Account restrictions
For some problems we switch off just the part of your account involved, rather than suspending the whole thing. A restriction can be given on its own, or with a warning — and it's always given with strike two. You'll see a message explaining why wherever the restriction applies, and a list in My account. Staff may use one or more of these:
- Affiliate access: your affiliate link and welcome page stop working, and you earn no new commission or rewards. Used for affiliate spam or misleading promotion.
- Sponsor deals: you can't see or apply for sponsor offers, send proof or message sponsors. Used for missed deliverables, false proof or unprofessional conduct with brands.
- Uploads: you can't upload any files. Used for uploading adult, graphic or copyrighted material.
- Sending messages: you can still read your messages, but can't message sponsors or use team chat. You can still message our team. Used for harassment or spam in chats.
- Contacting the team: you can't message our team through the site, for example after flooding the support inbox. You'll be asked to email us or use Discord instead.
- Read-only account: you can sign in and look at everything, but can't change anything (apart from your password, or deleting your account). Used while we look into a problem.
10. Full suspension
A suspension blocks sign-in and signs you out on every device. Your data is kept, but you can't access it while you're suspended. Accounts are suspended on their third active strike, or straight away for the serious violations listed above.
11. Questions & appeals
If you think a warning, restriction or suspension is wrong, tell us why and we'll review it. Please contact us once and keep it in one conversation; repeated messages about the same thing won't speed it up.
A successful community relies on trust. These rules protect creators, brands and viewers, while giving honest creators every chance to put mistakes right.
If your access to Messages is restricted, or your account is suspended, use the email address on our Privacy policy or ask on our Discord instead.
